Bay Area Radio Schedule
San Jose Mercury
Winter 1964

The broad variety of programming available on the AM radio dial in the Bay Area, as evidenced by this undated schedule from the San Jose Mercury during the Winter of 1964, ranges from Doug Pledger, Don Sherwood and Dave McElhatton in the morning to Warriors basketball on KFRC, the "Chinese Hour" on KLOK and "Western Serenade" on KEEN in the evening. (Although you can have your fill of Doug Pledger in the morning or at night, as he also hosts "Dining With Pledger" on KNBR at 7:05 p.m.) Although disc jockey-type programs now dominate the schedule, there is still evidence of network programs — for instance, "Arthur Godfrey Time" at 10:10 a.m. and Art Linkletter's "House Party" at 11 a.m. on KCBS.
