NBC Radio City, San Francisco
Recording Room Circa 1942
This room in the Radio City building was the center for all program recordings.
Six transcription lathes were used to make recordings on 16 inch 33-1/3 R.P.M. vinyl
disks, fifteen minutes to a side. The four turntables at the rear of the room were used for
playback purposes only, to audition recordings. The rack cabinets contained program
amplifiers and audio switching equipment.
